Edwin Rivera is an emerging figure in American politics. A native of Puerto Rico, Rivera has cultivated a deep understanding of the challenges faced by everyday citizens. Raised in poverty, foster care, then by his grandparents Rivera’s upbringing instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and a commitment to community.
Rivera’s professional journey is characterized by his dedication to public service and America.
Before entering the political arena, he worked as a police officer in Puerto Rico, then joined the United States Army. He served several tours of combat in the Middle East, which led him to early retirement as a disabled veteran.
For years Newport News, VA has been home to Edwin and his wife Adina. They are a blended family with 7 children who attend public schools.
As a candidate, Rivera emphasizes the importance of grassroots engagement, ensuring that all voices of constituents are heard and represented. His platform advocates for educational reforms, healthcare accessibility, youth development programs, economic development, and enhanced public safety; all focused on fostering a thriving community.
